too low

I believe t.raenon is referring to this ALLEGED picture of Lil Jon in high school.

we can get into some gangter shit

So there's this kinda new music called grime that many people in the chinstroking-music-blogger demographic are quite sure is the greatest musical sub-genre (ever!) in the long history of musical sub-genres. [Hey, remember that other music called jungle? The one in which many of these same people once invested all their musical hopes and dreams? Well, it's called drum and bass now and is judged to be quite shit by people who never to listen it. ]

Flavour of one month, flavour of another... In time, all these newgangled sub-subcategories of dance music reveal themselves to be quite fallible after the novelty wears off. You can only break new ground once kinda thing. Music is music, see?

Anyway, Nolay is female grime MC of whom not much is known by me. High Contrast is a young Welsh drum and bass producer famous, in some tiny circles at least, for a majestic anthem of a tune called "Return to Forever". (Get his excellent True Colours album to hear it) So he's got the beats and she's got the rhymes and they made a great tune together called Angels and Fly. It's hot shit and you can get it on the latest HC album High Society, which I haven't heard yet.

I like the bit where the beats go half-speed but Nolay starts double-timing her rhymes. That and the little echoed-out harpsichordey bit that runs through the tune and sounds a lot like it comes from NORE's Netunes-produced hit "Superthug".

rep yo city

This Lil Jon feat. Pitbull track is wicked. Its short and half of it is shoutouts but the part where the guy raps is sweet and kind of grimy. Apparently Pitbull is from Miami.

[t.raenon] I'm not crazy about Lil Jon in general. I like his graduation picture though. And that remix of "Get Low" with Elephant Man and Busta Rhymes is so nasty you have to take a shower after listening to it.

3454 is a new MP3 blog devoted to all genres that are good including "groovy chill".
